Texas Wrap and Martinsville Picks
Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500-Texas
Wrap-up and Results
The Texas Race looked like it would never finish as mist and rain and sleet and other meteorological hinderance delayed the Finish of the race that started Sunday to Wednesday.
After all the Track drying efforts over the four days the actual winner was Air Titan 3 who completed the 500.1 miles late Tuesday night. Post-race inspection found the not only several loose lug nuts but several template and engine violations which resulted in its disqualification, turning the win over to Kyle Busch in the #18 Skittles Toyota. This delighted Fantasy racer Kelly Meiste who has faithfully ridden the Kyle Busch pick the entire season. Texas finally paid off as Kelly earned his first 40-point win as Kyle broke his extended winless streak.
Congratulations Kelly!
Kelly edged Berra Nordin who finished second with his Martin Truex, Jr. pick followed by Vicq Ruiz and Will Dossett who came home fourth with their Alex Bowman pick. The rest of the field did quite well as noted in the Finishing Order Chart below.

Vivian Simons had a rough day with a 16th place finish, which normally would have affected her points lead. Lucky for her, second place PattyKay Lilley and third place Frank Buhrman has also picked Harvick so there was no change at the top. Here at the Points Standings after Texas.
Rumor has it that Vivian is using Joey Logano’s spotter to take the air off the nose of her competitors. Mirror driving? Say it isn’t so! So, we’re down to two races and the question is, how will things change after Martinsville? We’ll soon know, so tune in!

Picks and Prognostications
Final Cutoff Race. How they finish here determines Phoenix and who gets to compete for the Championship. Pressure? You bet!
To look for a race winner, you need to start with the Chasers, those eight who are still in the hunt, who have the most to gain. Martin Truex, Jr. won here last year and backed it up with a win here earlier this year under the lights. He’s below the cutoff and a win would be the easiest way to Phoenix.
Other contenders who have a Martinsville grandfather clock include Denny Hamlin (7), Brad Keselowski (2) and Kurt Busch. Another one would give them a shot to run for another Championship.
Joey Logano has already qualified for Phoenix. Does he ride or drive hard to keep someone else from winning their way in?
Can a Non-contender steal the win? Kyle Busch could use a win here to end his winless streak. Clint Bowyer could finish his career on a high note. And a Ryan Newman win would be a nice end to a season that started so horrifically.
The sentimental favorite has to be nine-time winner, Jimmie Johnson. A Martinsville win would be the perfect storybook ending to a stellar Cup career.
So, who will it be?
Let’s see who our Fantasy Racers think will leave Martinsville with a win. Racers start your engines...
PattyKay Lilley
Put me down for MTJ at Martinsville.
Frank Buhrman
Let's see . . . who will have the spirit of Richard Petty or the ghost of Ray Hendrick riding with him this weekend at Martinsville? I think I'll go with the ghost of "Mr. Modified" Hendrick, and I kind of think Ray would like Brad K., since their driving styles and no-bull personalities seem complementary. I know Denny Hamlin drives Hendrick's old number and is another Richmond guy, but it says here that Bad Brad gets it done, with a little help from possibly the best Martinsville driver ever.
Vivian Simons
I am going the high side of that "CHOOSE CONE" and gonna take that #2, Brad Keselowski for the win at Martinsville.
Berra Nordin
Well, with Texas not even in the books, I'm going to make it easy on myself and pick #19 Marin Truex Jr. Three in a row at Martinsville!
Kelly Meiste
Kyle. Busch. Why stop now? The fun is just beginning.
Vicq Ruiz
Gimme the Deuce! the Deuce! the Deuce!
Hal Ashburn
Haven’t had a ride with Brad in a while so #2 it is.
Will Dossett
Keep me with Bowman in the 88, soon to be Yung Money's ride.
J. L. Steele
In very 2020 fashion, I'm making this pick before the previous race at Texas is completed. Regardless, I think my choice would be the same either way, Chase Elliott.
John Barnes
I'll go with the 2.
David Nance
I’m sticking with the #1, just one more time.
