Loudon Wrap and Michigan 1 & 2 Picks
Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 Loudon
Wrap-up and Results
The 301 miles at New Hampshire proved to be one of the more interesting races at least for the first two stages. Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin put on quite a show in the first two Stages battling lap after lap for the lead, before the Blue Deuce (running a black paint scheme) dominated the last 81 laps for the win.
John Barnes picked the second place Hamlin for this week’s Fantasy win. Barnes 35-point finish was just ahead of Berra Nordin and Vicq Ruiz who had third place finisher, Martin Truex, Jr. Barnes post-race burnout was just short of spectacular and he promised a car exit that would rival Carl Edwards backflip if he scores a 40-point win. Questioned about the potential danger of his post-race gymnastics, Barnes replied, “Don’t worry. I’ll be safe. I’ll wear a mask!”
It was quite a race with everyone who didn’t pick Kyle Busch, finishing in the Top Ten. Unfortunately, points leader Frank Buhrman picked the wrong race to hop on the Kyle Busch bandwagon and saw his points lead evaporate as quick as a popping right front Goodyear.

Points leader Frank Buhrman’s Kyle Busch pick bore little fruit as the 21st place finish coupled with a fourth-place finish by PattyKay Lilley and Nordin’s win saw his points lead take another hit. He’s still atop the leaderboard but takes a narrow nine points into Texas this weekend. It should make for an interesting weekend. Can he hang on or will we have a new points leader? We’ll know come Sunday evening. Here are the points standings after seventeen races-
Michigan Double Header
Picks and Prognostications
This weekend finds the Traveling Circus heading north to the Irish Hills of Michigan for a COVID-19 doubleheader. Twice the racing gives our Fantasy Racers a great opportunity to gain points heading into the final third of the season.
Double headers provide another twist to an already twisted season. Do you use the first race as “practice” for the second race? Do you play it safe in the first one to make sure you have your best car for the second? Do those who need a win to make the Playoffs play this weekend as two “Hail Mary’s” OT throws to the end zone or is this just any other weekend?
Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick won last year’s races with Harvick having an affinity to the second race here. Other winners include Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, and Ryan Newman. Martin Truex, Jr., Austin Dillon, and Chase Elliott are the strongest of the non-winners. Is this the weekend for them to shine?
PJ1 reaction compound will be in play this weekend just to throw another factor into the mix. Couple that with all the Silly Season nonsense and crew chief changes; things could get very interesting.
Let’s see how our Fantasy Racers think things will shake out this weekend. Please note, since this is a double header these will contain the picks for both races. Some chose a single driver for both while others picked different drivers for each race. With that said, first up, PattyKay...
PattyKay Lilley
I don't see anyone better here than the guy I rode with last week, so I'll stay with #4, Kevin Harvick another time.
Frank Buhrman
OK, I know one of you slipped up to New England Sunday and tossed those tacks out in front of Kyle's car. That's just not right, so I'll give you a chance to make up for it and leave my picks alone during the Michigan two-fer. That might be hard, though, because there are some Toyota dislikers ("hate" is such a negative word) and going for Joe's boys all the way: Martin Truex on Saturday, and Denny Hamlin Sunday.
Vivian Simons
Kinda hard, but for Michigan Race Number 1, I am going with #12, Ryan Blaney for the win. The second race winner will be #4, Kevin Harvick.
Berra Nordin
MIS Double header this week and races a little shorter than "normal" I said it a few times before that almost every race should be a "Five Hundred", laps, miles, or km! So, I guess NASCAR has been listening to what I've been saying when they set the length of the races to 312 miles that would be just a tick over 500 km!!
Well to the winners!!! Race 1 Saturday #19 Martin Truex Jr gets it done this time!! Race 2 Sunday #24 William Byron takes a little bit of a surprise win!!
Kelly Meiste
Well that really stunk! Last place! Going from last to first this week. #18 will take the Irish Hills double header.
Vicq Ruiz
Keeping my chips on the 19 spot all weekend.
Hal Ashburn
Guess I'm going back to the #11 for both of these. Don't really like Denny or Kevin but dang these boys are point machines
Will Dossett
I'm staying with Tyler Reddick again. #8 in both.
J. L. Steele
Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick both seem like solid picks for this weekend, but who wins which race? I'll take Brad for Saturday and Harvick for Sunday.
John Barnes
I guess I'll go with Logano. Someone needs to put an end to my one-race winning streak, so it may as well be me that does it.
David Nance
My real picks are Aric Almirola on Saturday and Brad Keselowski for Sunday, but I’d really like to see Eric Jones win both... just for the Karma in it all.
