KC Wrap and Loudon Picks
Super Start Batteries 400 Kansas
Wrap-up and Results
The Kansas Race was an interesting twist to the already interesting season, giving fans a rare Thursday night event. Not only was it a rare occurrence but the Cuppers found themselves the warmup band for a race weekend that saw Trucks, ARCA and Xfinity take the track for a five-race weekend. If you didn’t get your race fix this weekend, not sure there is help for you.
The lead off event provided some interesting twists as nearly everyone jumped off last week’s Kevin Harvick bandwagon with most moving to the Chase Elliott pick. It didn’t pay off as hoped but those who stayed were rewarded.
When the Checkered Flag fell, it was Denny Hamlin our front. Hal Ashburn had correctly picked the 11 as he racked up another 40-point win over second place finisher John Barnes who was riding with the #2. Congratulations Hal! Vivian Simons was the only rider on the Harvick freight train this week and earned 33 points with that fourth-place finish. Here is this week’s Super Start Batteries 400 finishing order. Again, congratulations Hal on the win!

Points leader Frank Buhrman led the switch from Harvick to Chase Elliott this week that included second place in the standings, PattyKay Lilley. Again, same pick=same points=no change. J. L. Steele was also in that pack. Vivian Simons was this week’s big gainer and Berra Nordin took a hit with his Ryan Blaney pick. Check it out below to see how the points shuffled out after the nineteenth race of the season.

Picks and Prognostications
This Sunday finds us at New Hampshire. Earlier in the week we lost the man who brought Cup to New England by building this speedway. It’s only fitting we are there Sunday to say goodbye. Godspeed Bob.
This race on the surface is a return to normalcy, a return to a good ol’ Sunday afternoon showdown. But when you dig a little deeper you find that like the rest of the season this will hardly be normal. A new HP/Downforce setup is in play for this race. Couple that with generous applications of PJ1 for additional traction. Plus, this is a very non-traditional NH race weekend. A typical Bahre race weekend found lots of practice and racing every class of vehicles known in NASCAR including haul-backs, ambulances and jet dryers to put as much rubber as possible into the track before the Cuppers take the track. This year this is a stand-alone event with no practice, no qualifying, which means no rubber. Heading off into Turn One that first time should be adventuresome to say the least.
If you choose to look at past performance for future results here, you have to look no farther than Kevin Harvick who swept the two races here last season. Other drivers who have met Larry the Lobster in Victory Lane include Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman, Clint Bowyer and Jimmie Johnson. Loudon has been good to a pretty diverse group of wheelmen.
Others in line to meet Larry the Lobster (hopefully they won’t squeal like Denny Hamlin) include Marin Truex, Jr., Aric Almirola, Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Ryan Blaney. Who knows, this may be the week for Chase Elliott to visit Victory Lane.
Should be an interesting weekend. Let’s see what our Fantasy Racers think. First up, PattyKay...
PattyKay Lilley
Knew I'd be right back this week. It's a flat mile track. We have about TWO racers that can excel on that style track... one is named Denny Hamlin and the other is not. He's named Kevin Harvick and he's won the last two races at Loudon. Mama will be back in the #4 this week with Kevin!
Frank Buhrman
Too busy to think much about it this week, so we'll say this is the week Rowdy breaks through: Kyle Busch at New Hampshire.
Vivian Simons
I am going to be sticking with Kevin Harvick in the #4 again for the win at New Hampshire! He has been good there before and will be again.
Berra Nordin
This week at Loudon It is not going to be easy for anyone to look beyond Hamlin who is always good on flat tracks, or Harvick and the #4 team, even his spotter has a win here!! But however I'm going to give it a try and go with #19 Martin Truex Jr. Thinking he'll be the one who saves Hamlin from that fearsome Lobster!
Kelly Meiste
#18 takes the lobster this weekend…
Vicq Ruiz
My no-brainer rule for this so far dismal season (I suddenly want stage points!) gives me Mr. Truex in the nineteen.
Hal Ashburn
Going to crossover to the dark side 1 more time. Happy Harv #4 the win.
Will Dossett
I kinda think I will ride with Tyler Reddick in the #8.
J. L. Steele
This one is easy; it's Kevin Harvick. Not only is he performing week in and week out this season, he's also been the man to beat the last few seasons at New Hampshire.
John Barnes
Hamlin
David Nance
Joey Logano... just because he’s due.
