Fantasy Picks 2020 ~ Las Vegas 1
Daytona 500 Wrap-up and Results
Wishing Ryan Newman a speedy and complete recovery. Our continued thoughts and prayers are with Ryan, his family, friends and team.
Daytona, like all former plate races, is unpredictable and takes its toll on the field. The 2020 edition was no different. Multi-car crashes took out the picks for J. L. Steele, Will Dossett, and Berra Nordin. Vicq Ruiz’s Martin Truex Jr. was mired back in the pack after hitting an errant gas can on pit road, His day ended when he got involved in one of the crashes. Hal Ashburn sustained damage in an incident but soldiered on. A rare mechanical failure took out Kelly Meiste. Vivian made it to the last lap before spinning on the last lap. PattyKay Lilley and John Barnes were riding in the 6, just yards from Victory before violently crashing, resulting in Ryan Newman’s hospitalization.
David Nance and Frank Buhrman survived and raced to the wire in the second closest Daytona 500 finish in history with Frank earning the win. Congratulations, Frank!
Below are the Fantasy Race Results and Points standings after the first race. Only 35 more to go!

That’s what the facts say, let’s see what our Fantasy Racers think about this week’s race.
Well, it's Wednesday and I just got a chance to look over Las Vegas. Lots of folks run really well at this forgiving track. When the choices are wide, there's just one thing to do. Bet with your heart... so put me down for #4, Kevin Harvick. That way I'll be twice as happy when he wins. :)
Distracted like everybody else, and with a crazy personal schedule to boot. All that being the case, a quick gut-reaction pick is that Kyle Busch will come home to take home the Vegas trophy.
After Daytona, it is hard to think of the next race. However, during the last 8 years, Keselowski has won 3 races, which is more than anyone else during that time. Harvick and Truex, Jr have 2 wins each and Logano has 1 at Las Vegas. Perhaps it is time to let someone else win one? Nice thought, huh? Nah... what I really think is that it is time for #22, Logano to do some catching up so I am picking him for the win. Go, Joey!
So now with Daytona in the books I'm not going to say anything more about what happened other than my thoughts are with Ryan Newman and Corey LaJoie.
Vegas this week, last time we were here I thought we was going to see a hometown winner and we didn't so maybe this time we will!! My pick for the week goes to #18 Kyle Busch. Kyle is doing a double duty this week and I think he's going to win both in Cup and Trucks!!
We’ll see if the 18 can keep a motor together for 400 miles. Riding with the 18.
Leave my chips on the 19 spot for Vegas,
I think I'll take Mad Brad in the #2.
#1 Kurt Busch
J. L. Steele
Wow, I'm almost afraid to pick after how my last pick turned out. But I'm going with Joey Logano. My reasoning: He's probably the greatest wheelman in all of human history. Except for maybe Kyle Busch.
Alternative reason: It's a WAG.
I’ll stick with the 12 this week.
