Charlotte 1 and 2 Picks
Sunday found NASCAR’s Premier Series back at the “Lady in Black” for the first mid-week race of this season. The much-anticipated event was again met by no practice/no qualifying race procedures and empty stands as the Series attempts to navigate through the COVID-19 mine field. Mother Nature decided she wasn’t happy with washing out the Tuesday Xfinity race but made a repeat appearance. Depth of perception issues continued to plague Cup Champions as Kyle Busch “made a mistake” and missed clearing a hard-charging Chase Elliot by somewhere between an inch to a yard depending on the apologist. The night ended filled with a menagerie of wildlife making appearances as first Elliott’s bird, followed by a large fox. Could Digger, the sun-track rodent be far behind?
After wingman Kyle Busch cleaned the charging Elliott off of Hamlin’s 11 it was easy sailing to the caution-red-checkered rain shortened finish. Our John Barnes took the Fantasy win as the only driver to pick the #11. He was closely followed Frank Buhrman, Hal Ashburn and Kelly Meiste with their #18 pick. Eight racers had Top 6 Picks. Here is the Toyota 500 (k) finishing order.

Barnes’ 40-point win allowed him to climb one position in the point standings. Buhrman’s second place finish kept him atop the points standings for yet another week while several positions shuffle behind him.
Coca-Cola 600 Picks
Charlotte 1
Back home again... at the old 600...
“Back Home Again in Indiana” is the theme song to the Indy 500 and it usually kicks off the US portion of the greatest day in auto racing. But since the only racing we will be seeing this Memorial Day weekend is the Coca-Cola 600, I took some liberties.
The Traveling Circus stays home this weekend, going from one of the shortest races of the season on Wednesday to the longest on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how the teams adapt to the “New NASCAR Normal” and race distance swings.
Martin Truex, Jr. is the defending race champ and has been the dominate driver of late at the long race. Jimmie Johnson is the current King of the 1.5-mile quad-oval with four wins at this race and an overall 8 wins at this track. Other race winners include Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon and Kevin Harvick. Brad Keselowski nabbed a win here when they ran a 500 miler before the ROVAL.
That’s several to choose from. Do you go with race experience or try new blood like Chase Elliott or Joey Logano? Let’s see who our Fantasy Racers will think will be doing burnouts come late Sunday night in Charlotte.

And on we go to Charlotte... not once, but twice. First one up is the 600, a race that probably should not exist, as it's no longer the endurance test it was created to be. For that one, I'll put my nickel on #19, Martin Truex Jr. Then, for the shorter race, which will NOT be run on the Roval, I'll ride with Chase Elliott. I really think he'll make sure that KyBu doesn't get him again!
Frank Buhrman
Maybe I'm just getting lazy, or old, or both. I wanted to do more studying to justify picking Chase Elliott, who really might win this thing, or there might be another upset choice - all that's possible. But I was willing to limit myself to a 90-second look at the past couple of years, and despite the nagging thought, "Is Bowman about to break out?" I decided to just flip last week’s picks and go with Kyle Busch on Sunday and Denny Hamlin Wednesday. Maybe next week, the inspiration will kick in.

I am going with Chase Elliot # 9 to win the first race at Charlotte. He looked good at Darlington and I think he will get the job done without interference this time!
However, I am a SHR fan so am going with a Ford and picking Kevin Harvick to win the second race. Good luck to all the drivers.

Darlington races are in the books and Charlotte is on. I don't have any good idea for the 600 yet but maybe #9 Chase Elliott gets his win now instead! About the Wednesday 500 km it is going to be hard to bet against #19 Martin Truex Jr who has been very good here the last couple of years!
Kelly Meiste
Well, the doors were safe last week as the only thing the 18 knocked were fenders, but that’s OK. I’ll stick with him to pull off the double!
Vicq Ruiz
If both races are on the big track (they are) I'll stick with Truex for both".
Hal Ashburn
Lord we are all mixed up. Just came to me that you might need the picks. Think I'll change things up. 1st race the #9 of Chase. 2nd race my favorite driver Matt Kenseth.
Will Dossett
C1, #8, Tyler Reddick; C2, John Hunter Nemechek
J. L. Steele
He's won three of the last six on the Charlotte tri-oval, so Martin Truex, Jr. is my pick for the 600.
Chase Elliott wins the 500k race.
John Barnes
Sunday: Harvick
Wednesday: Kyle Busch
David Nance
Well that was a bust. I’ll try Joey Logano for the Sunday race and Ryan Newman for the shorter, Wednesday race.
