Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500-Atlanta
Wrap-up and Results
Atlanta Attempt 2.0 went off Sunday before stands sold out to emptiness. I have to admit I tuned in late. The rain had finally stopped, and it was a beautiful day. We had to escape our confines if for no other reason than a bit of sanity in these trying times.
I did get back in time to see the final parade to the Checkered Flag led by Kevin Harvick, much to the delight of Frank Buhrman, PattyKay Lilley and Vivian Simons. They had the #4 for their Fantasy Pick this week and the 40-point win helped Frank and PattyKay further distance themselves from the field.
Overall, our Racers nailed Atlanta. Not only did three pick the race winner but all finished in the Top Twelve, which was amazing considering there was only one other set of duplicate picks. Let’s see how our Racers finished in this week’s race

The tight finish saw resulted in no movement in this week’s points standings. Frank continues his stranglehold on the top spot as PattyKay tries to get up to him and put a bumper on him to get to clean air. Other spots tightened up, positioning the pack for some major shuffling this Wednesday at Martinsville. Here are the current point standings.
Blue Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 Martinsville Picks
The Traveling Circus makes a mid-week stop in Martinsville. It will be played before a TV and on-line audience as fans are as welcomed at the track as a swarm of Murder Hornets. These are the times...
It’s a different race day, time, and circumstances, but we have a racy little track, some cars and drivers so let’s have a race!
Brad Keselowski stunk up last year’s race in a passless-fest. Martin Truex, Jr. repeated the performance in the fall race leading to NASCAR changing the aero setup for short tracks. So, this year brings a reversion back to 2018 for aero. Joey Logano and Clint Bowyer won with that aero setup, but the HP setup will be different now than then, plus we’ll be under the lights so who knows?
In addition to the four mentioned, other winners include Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch, and Ryan Newman, with Johnson leading all winners. Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, and Aric Almirola all get around the paper clip pretty well. Maybe Wednesday will be their time to shine and go away with a grandfather clock.
That’s a lot to choose from. Since everything is new this year will we see a past winner repeat or will the newness be continued with a new winner? Let’s see what our Racers think about the Blue Emu Maximum Strength Pain Relief 500.
PattyKay Lilley
Seems way late to be coming to Martinsville, but no matter the season, I'm always glad when they race here. Kind of wish it were a day race, but I guess they have to show off the lights now that they have them. Frank, you have to stop picking my picks. I can't catch you if we have the same guy every week.
Lots of good short trackers in the field, but this week I'm going with the best of them... Mama's riding with #18, Kyle Busch. Probably have to read Thursday morning about who won. I know I won't make 500 laps at Martinsville before sleep claims me.
Frank Buhrman
Really want - and maybe ought - to pick home-state boy Denny Hamlin, but I'm going to stick with a hunch and take Martin Truex for the paperclip win. We don't really have enough history to determine who runs best on Wednesdays, but Martin is smooth, and that's what it takes to survive at one of my favorite tracks.
Vivian Simons
I look forward to Martinsville and hope it is a good and safe race. After careful thought, I tend to think it will be a Penske driver who wins. Just having a rough time as to which one it will be, so will use the eeny-meeny-miny-moe system. Aha, Brad Keselowski, #2 won that one and is gonna win Martinsville.
Berra Nordin
So it is Martinsville on a Wednesday night under the lights and it's time for a #18 Kyle Busch win!
Kelly Meiste
Kyle Busch takes the clock home this week. 18 has been knocking on the door.
Vicq Ruiz
Another driver I like is Denny Hamlin, although I gather he'll never win Most Popular Driver at this site. I kinda like him on account of for years as a Mark Martin rooter, I heard more than I cared to hear about "best driver who never won the cup", and I sympathize with his fans. So, let's go #11 at Martinsville.
Hal Ashburn
I'll go against all those who pick Kyle and go with The Master of Martinsville Ray Hendrick's #11. Denny for the Hometown Win. (LOL change my mind 3 times in the last 5 mins).
Will Dossett
J.J. in the 48.
J. L. Steele
Joey Logano
John Barnes
Kyle Busch. Sheesh, I'm heading in the wrong direction.
David Nance
The 19 done me good last week. Do I let it ride or try something new? Think I’ll give the 12 a try. Will probably need some Blue Emu
