Fantasy Picks 2019 ~ Watkins Glen
Recap
and Results
Gander RV 400
Pocono
The
“Tricky Triangle” hardly lives up to its name as 9 of our Fantasy Competitors
had top10 finishes, with Berra Nordin coming in with the win. His Denny Hamlin pick gave him another 40
points as he extends his winning streak to three in a row.
Frank
Buhrman and Will Dossett challenged but Berra was just too strong for the pack.
PattyKay
Lilley continues to lead the points as challenger Kelly Meiste unfortunately
chose the same driver as our points leader. Good pick but playing follow the
leader won’t gain ground on the leader.
Berra used his 40 points to move into third place passing Hal Ashburn at
the line. Further back in the field,
Frank’s second place finish pushed him past Vivian Simons continuing the heated
battle they have going on.

Week’s Picks
Let’s Go Bowling at the Glen
Watkins Glen
Let’s
see how good Berra does on the road courses as the Traveling Circus heads to
the Empire State for 90 laps around the 2.45-mile meandering through the Finger
Lakes region. Can he make it four or
will another one of our Racers bring his streak to an end?
Our
competitors will make their choice from 37 entrants, six of which have seen
Victory Lane here before. Kevin Harvick,
Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr. are among our winners here. Chase Elliott is the defending Champ while
Kyle Busch owns three wins here. Brad
Keselowski, Kurt Busch, Aric Almirola have yet to visit Victory Lane here. Maybe this will be their breakthrough week.
The
field of 37 will use the Sonoma setup - 750 HP/No Aero Ducts. Maximum power for maximum excitement.
Before
we get your picks, let’s see who our Fantasy Racers think will bring it home.

And
now we move forward to America's favorite track. The sprawling left and right
turns of the beautiful Watkins Glen. Yes, it really is astoundingly beautiful
country, nestled very close to Seneca lake in the Southern Tier of New York
State. Picking winners here is not so beautiful, as all the usual suspects that
shone so brightly on a road course have retired! I see that Suarez has put up
some very impressive numbers in his TWO races at the Glen. Nope, I'm not ready
to take that leap. Noto when there are two folks named Busch still racing. This
trip, I'm going to switch my ride from younger brother to older brother. I'll
be riding with KURT Busch in the #1 for Chip Ganassi Racing. Hope he'll
actually BE #1 at day's end.
Frank
Buhrman
I
should pick somebody who shouldn't do well, because that worked pretty well
last week, but I'm going to let my money ride on Truex for another week, even
though he seems to really like this place. Maybe it's time for one last shot at
bringing a driver GOOD luck by picking him. Probably won't work, but #19 it is.
Vivian
Simons
I
have enjoyed jinxing Kyle Busch the last few weeks so think I will stick with
him again.
Berra
Nordin
This
week we're off to Watkins Glen, the track where I saw my first NASCAR race more
than 25 years ago. From then I always loved racing at the Glen!
So,
I have had a few lucky weeks but the longer the streak the closer you get to
the loss and going into this week I didn't have any feeling on who's going to
win! Then last night Jayski provided me with the solution! Kyle Busch is going to start the NXS race,
and that means extra practice for him and there you have it #18 Kyle Busch
is my winner this week!

Someone's
got to be
In a New York state of mind
My guess is the 9...
Kelly
Meiste
I've
been bouncing between Kyle B & Truex the past several weeks and every time
I pick one it’s the wrong one. If my past record holds true, I'll be
picking the wrong one again this week. So here goes ........ mark me down
for Truex this week (which will most likely guarantee Kyle B the win).
Hal
Ashburn
For
the same stranger reason as last week I gotta go with KB again in the #18.
Will
Dossett
Going
with Kurt Busch, #1. Top Bowtie on road courses.
J.
L. Steele
I
had Blaney last week, let's do it again. Why not?

Nance
OK-The
22 struggled at NHIS Pocono but I think a win at the Glen is in the bag.
So,
there you have it! Agree? Disagree?
Pick your winner and post it in the comments below.
Good luck and hoping for a safe, good race!
