Fantasy Picks 2019 ~ Talladega 2
Recap
and Results
Drydene 400
Dover
The
30th Race of the season saw the Traveling Circus visiting the concrete mile at
Dover. It was a race of haves and have
nots-top finishers and bottom feeders.
Will Dossett had been riding the Kyle Larson train for a while now, and
his loyalty to the #42 finally paid off with a 40 point win Points leaders Kelly Meiste and PattyKay
Lilley’s pick of Martin Truex Jr. came across the line second, while Berra
Nordin and Vivian Simons came across fourth, followed by Hal Ashburn’s Denny
Hamlin pick finishing fifth. It’s a good day when six Fantasy Racers
finish in the top five!
On
the other end of the spectrum, it was UGLY at the back. When all the points were tallied, our Racers
saw only one shift in points position with Berra edging ahead of Hal Ashburn to
break their tie.
Below
are the results for Dover’s second race of the season.

Talladega
Race
31 finds the 12 Chasers and the remaining Cup Playoff field fillers tackling
the High Banks of Eastaboga AL for the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega
Superspeedway. The Field of Forty attack
the series steepest banking and longest oval with the same setup
(550HP/AeroDucts) used by Chase Elliott to win earlier this season.
Looking
at past performance, Brad Keselowski has five wins here and teammate Joey
Logano has another three. Jimmie Johnson
getting his third win here would break an incredibly frustrating winless streak
and Chaser Clint Bowyer could sure use a third win here now to propel him into
the next Playoff round. Kyle Busch,
Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Aric Almirola are also
winners here.
Martin
Truex Jr., Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman like the track, just not enough to break
over into Victory Lane. Could this be
their year? With this being Talladega,
any driver on the lead lap when the white flag drops could find themselves
going home with the trophy.
The
1000Bulbs.com 500 should be a humdinger.
Let’s see how our Fantasy Racers see Sunday’s race going down. Kelly Meiste, PattyKay Lilley and Hal Ashburn
had the top pick in the Spring Race. Can they make it back to back wins
here? Only one way to find out... Take
it away, PattyKay...
PattyKay
Lilley
Talladega!
Always look at this one as pure luck with little or no skill involved. With
that said, I'll ride this week with the guy that is generally lucky here. Mama
will be in the #22 with Joey Logano this week. I'll spare everyone the rant
about how I detest this track!

I
don't know why we spend valuable time working on our picks for this thing,
because it'll all be settled by caprice - the best in the world can't avoid
"the big one" happening directly ahead. So who do you think will get
lucky? I'll put my money on Joey Logano having had his bad luck at Dover and
pulling off the win Sunday.

Ford
drivers have taken eight of the last ten 'Dega races, so it only seems logical
to pick a driver who drives a Ford. Penske has taken six of those ten. However,
the new rules might change that trend and I find it hard to go against that
trend. I would love to see Ryan Blaney in Victory Lane, so I am going to go all
out and pick that Number 12 car to take the trophy.
Berra
Nordin
Dega
and the last big crap shoot of the year, my hope for this race is maybe some of
the FRM driver can survive and take home a win to see the #38 in Victory
Lane would be nice. So what I'm going to do this time is to pick #2 Brad Keselowski and
maybe that will jinx him a little bit so that David Ragan wins!!

Dega!
Crap I hate guessing on this race as it comes down to who can survive.
I'd would generally have gone with Joey but after last week I don't think he'll
have to many friends. So what to do, what to do.
After
much thought (guessing) I've got it down to one driver. It's his final Dega
race and he either does very well or ends up in the garage. This spring I
believe he ended up in the garage so the odds have it he might just finish
this time and when he does, he's pretty good.
To
make a long story short I'm going with Ricky to take it to the house. So
mark me down for the #17 to be 1st to the checkers this weekend.
Hal
Ashburn
Denny
Hamlin, #11.

Staying

The
only thing that my Joey Logano pick got me is another lap behind in the points
standings. So while we’re just in
absolute crash and burn mode let’s ride with Matty D for the win.
So
there you have it! Agree? Disagree?
Pick your winner and post it in the comments below.
Good luck and hoping for a safe, good race!
