Fantasy Picks 2019 ~ Daytona 2
Recap
and Results
Camping World 400
Chicagoland
The
Chicago cookie cutter produced another exciting finish for the second year in a
row. Once again Kyle Larson was involved
in the final duel and once again came up short.
Last year it was Kyle Busch... this year to first time winner Alex
Bowman.
None
of our Racers picked Bowman for the win, but Will Dossett was riding with the
#42 of Larson and took home this week’s Fantasy win. Dossett edged J. L. Steele who had third
place finisher Joey Logano.
This
week saw six of our ten competitors finish in the top ten including the Martin
Truex Jr. pack of PattyKay Lilley, Hal Ashborn and Frank Buhrman who came in
ninth place.
As
great as the finish was it was a shame so few were in attendance to see it and
those who were, like our points leader Kelly Meiste, were slammed with high
winds from the storm that hit the area, red flagging the race for over three
hours.
Chicagoland
did not produce any changes in our points standings
but did see PattyKay take a bite out of Kelly’s point lead. Here are the race results and points
standings for last week’s Chicagoland race.

Coke Zero Sugar 400
Daytona
Back
to where the season started in February-Daytona. This race is always a tossup between the
wrecks eliminating the usual cast of favorites and drafting and dance partners
we could see anyone in Victory Lane.
Throw in they are running a different HP/Aero setup from the first race
it adds even more uncertainty into the mix.
Eric Jones won this race in 2018.
Other winners at this track that you don’t think of include Austin
Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Aric Almirola.
Throw in the usual cast of 2019 winners like Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano,
Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch along with the 2019 winless drivers like Kevin
Harvick, Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson who have found Victory Lane here before,
it’s quite a pool to choose from. Throw
in Michael McDowell, Clint Bowyer and Ryan Newman who are winless here but are
knocking on the door, you have some kind of mix to choose from... plus a host
of others who this could be their week.
Daytona,
with its unpredictable history and all the new variables NASCAR has thrown in,
how do you pick a winner? Let’s see what
our Fantasy Racers think-
PattyKay

I
don't care what package or whatever they're running here. It's Daytona. Despite
the attempt to deny it, they still run restricted engines, so nothing has
really changed. Anyone could win here, depending on how many don't make
the end of the race. I'll cast my lot with a decent finisher... when he doesn't
crash. I'll be riding with #22, Joey Logano this week. Would love to say I'm
looking forward to next week, but it's Kentucky!
Frank
Buhrman
For
somebody who almost never gambles for real, this seems funny, but I'm letting my
bet ride on Truex for another week. Kind of feel like I should take somebody
from the Penske stable, but Martin Jr. might have some momentum, and maybe
that'll defeat the capriciousness of Daytona. Let's go, #19.

We're
going to Daytona, we're going to Daytona! On the road again for the teams and
everyone feels they need a win at Daytona. So who will take the checkered flag?
Maybe, maybe, maybe it will be #2, Brad Keselowski so I will ride with him and
we will see you in Victory Lane!

So
Daytona again and yet another nail-biter! Last time they ran this package the
Chevys ran strong so maybe we'll see the same again but this time with another
winner. This time, I'm going to ruin the day for #1 Kurt Busch by
picking him as my winner!!

Well
I knew I'd suck at my home track last week so now it's payback time and it's
time to kick butt again (so look out PK).
There's
going to be another new winner in victory circle again this week, remember you
heard it here 1st!
The # 12 of Ryan Blaney.
Hal
Ashburn
I
got 1 point back in Feb. so I can't do any worse. Total crapshoot.
I guess I'll take Joey in the #22.
Will
Dossett
I've
got a good feeling about Daytona and Kurt in the #1.
J.
L. Steele
The
heart can't be denied and this pick is from the heart. Matt DiBenedetto

I’m
going to lose my ever loving pea picking mind and go with Paul Menard.
