Fantasy Picks 2019 ~ Darlington
Recap
and Results
Bass Pro Shops / NRA Night Race
Bristol
Bristol,
Baby proved to be challenge for our Fantasy Racers. None finished inside the Top 5 and half the
field finished outside the Top 10. Will
Dossett’s Kyle Larson pick was the top finisher, coming across the line in
6th. Vicq Ruiz, Hal Ashburn and Berra
Nordin rose their Kurt Busch pick to ninth place, with David Nance rounding out
the top 10 finishers.
Points
leader PattyKay Lilley’s Kevin Harvick pick encountered mechanical problems
which resulted in an unheard-of last place finish. Kelly Meiste captured enough points with his
16th place Joey Logano pick to move to the top of the points standings.

Week’s Picks
Bojangles’ Southern 500
Darlington
The
next to last race in the regular season finds the Traveling Circus at “The Lady
in Black” for that Labor Day classic known as the Southern 500. Charters plus three have signed up to tackle
the old 1.366-miler. They’ll use the
Pocono setup of 550HP and no AeroDucts this week.
David
Pearson is the all-time winner here with 10 wins. Jimmie Johnson has three, the most among
active drivers. Bristol winner, Denny
Hamlin is the only other multi-Darlington winner (2). Brad Keselowski is the defending champ
here. Martin Truex, Jr., Kevin Harvick
and Kyle Busch have also visited Victory Lane.
Kurt
Busch was the runner-up to Ricky Craven in 2003 in the closest race of the 115
races run here. Can he close the deal
and get in the Winner’s Circle? Ryan
Newman and Kyle Larson are strong here as well.
Could this be their year and their lock into the Chase/Playoff/Whatever?
Let’s
see what our Fantasy Racers think about the Bojangles’ Southern 500!
PattyKay
Lilley
Is
vacation over already? I spent mine with a phone! Darlington? OK then, it's
still Kevin Harvick! I don't stray far from home at some places. I'll be riding
in #4 this week!
Frank
Buhrman
Darlington's
not as much of a crapshoot as it once was, but there are still some traps for
the unwary and unlucky at this cranky old place, so picking with the head is
really hard. That being said, I'll go with emotions - I still remember that Ray
Hendrick throwback - and see if Denny Hamlin has another one in him this
weekend.
Vivian

It
is time for the #4 to be back in Victory Lane so I am picking Kevin Harvick to
win at Darlington
Berra
Nordin
I
hope everyone enjoyed the week off and coming back with full force! Last
weekend we had some great racing on the roads and this week we’ve got
Darlington and throwback Weekend and what a throwback it would be if #1 Kurt
Busch wins or comes in second after dueling with the #32 car! So Kurt's my pick
this week!
Vicq
Ruiz
My
fave throwback scheme
Is Rusty's old black and gold
Go Brad and go Deuce!
Kelly
Meiste
Well
here I am trying to keep PK in my mirrors once again. I wish her well
this week after her really bad break on our last outing. I truly wanted a
race to the checkers without any issues for anyone.
So,
what to do, what to do? After two weeks of pondering I believe I'm going
to go with Kyle. No not THAT Kyle, the Kyle with some class. Mark
me down for the #42 of Kyle Larson this week.
Hal
Ashburn
Time
to jinx Denny. The #11 for the win.
Will
Dossett
I
have to stay with Young Money again. Kyle
Larson, #42.
J.
L. Steele
Normally
the default pick would be Quin Houff and the #27. Joe Nemechek is behind the wheel for Jay
Robinson this week, so it’s go Joe go!
David
Nance
Look
out Kyle Busch, I’m gonna pick you this week!
18 to the rear!
So,
there you have it! Agree? Disagree?
Pick your winner and post it in the comments below.
Good luck and hoping for a safe, good race!
