Fantasy Picks 2019 ~ Coke 600
Recap
and Results Pack
racing is hardly the norm at KC but that’s exactly what we saw for the Digital
Ally 400 as seven of our ten Fantasy Racers lines up behind either Kevin
Harvick or Martin Truex, Jr. Points
leader Kelly Meiste lead the Truex Pack, while PattyKay Lilley who is on
Kelly’s back bumper headed up the Harvick contingency. Will Dossett, Frank Buhrman and David Nance
went solo. The
550 HP/AeroDuct setup seemed to improve the racing on the track. We saw tight racing in the Fantasy side as
well with nine of the ten racers finished within 11 points of one another. Will Dossett rode Kyle Larson to another top
pick. Even
with the tight finish among the field six of our ten changed position in the
points standings. Will’s back to back Fantasy Race wins has fueled his climb up
the leaderboard and PattyKay chipped another 6 points off of Kelly’s points
lead to tighten that battle. Rather
than write about it, here is a closer look at the race results and points
standings

It’s
back to points racing again after another week off for the All-Star race. They unveiled some more car changes and race
format changes and when last Saturday’s night of racing was over Kyle Larson
was a cool Million Dollars richer. A
Million Dollars. That’ll buy a lot of
dirt-tracker parts.
That
was last week; the resumption of the Regular Season is something else
entirely. Instead of the Gen-7 Lite
setup, our field of 40 (no one goes home this week) will take the one-and a-half-mile
oval with the same setup as they used at the last points race-550HP/AeroDuct.
As
far as success in the season’s longest race, Jimmie Johnson has four of his
eight wins at this track came in this race.
Other 600 winners include Kevin Harvick (1 of 3 wins), Austin Dillon and
defending race winner, Kyle Busch. Other
Charlotte winners include Kurt Busch, Clint Bowyer, Brad Keselowski, Joey
Logano and Martin Truex Jr. But those
were the 500 milers and we all know that the leader at 500 miles doesn’t always
win at 600.
Denny
Hamlin, Ryan Newman and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. have had good showings here. Could this be the year they break into the
Winner’s Circle here?
So
who is it going to be? Let’s see who our
Fantasy Racers like for this week’s longest race, the Coca-Cola 600.
PattyKay
Lilley
I
don't think it matters much what "package" they run at this cranky
old track. Some seem to catch on while others just flounder. I can't imagine
the logic behind cloning this track over and over again. It's probably the most
boring track on the circuit. One that does seem to get it and isn't thrown into
a tizzy by the change from daylight to dark is Martin Truex Jr., so I'll be
riding along with #19 this week.
Frank
Buhrman
OK,
Kyle Busch, I picked you for six straight weeks, and you go from the hottest
thing out there to a guy who blows his shot at a consecutive-top-10-streak
record and posts a 30th place finish. You owe me, Bud. I'm giving you one more
chance to make amends and win. I've got the #18 at Charlotte. Post a suck-butt
finish again, and I might swear you off for the rest of the year.

Sometimes
these races have surprising finishes with unexpected winners. However, after
much thought, along with advice from my in house expert, I am choosing #4,
Kevin Harvick to be in Victory Lane at the end of the Coke 600 at Charlotte. I
think his pit crew will have been lectured this week and they will be at their
best, same as Kevin will be.

On
to the Coke 600 after the "preview" last week. The one thing I took
away from that was how Kevin Harvick once again hade a Fast car and somehow
didn't win it! However this week he’s got an extra 100 miles to recover if his
crew drops it and I think the #4 Kevin Harvick is again on a mission,
especially after last week when his team mate the Jack Rabbit in the #14 made
an a** of himself and embarrassed SHR!

Since
I went with Truex last week and got burned I figure this week he'll win if I
don't pick him. So I'll be going with Truex this week for the win.

Well
the new package is almost a crap shoot. The book says take the 19, my
head says 22 but my eyes say take the hated #4. Guess I'll take KH in the
#4.
Will
Dossett
I've
had pretty good luck with the 42, so I'm going to stay with him for a while.
David
Nance
Well,
I wanted to go with Brad K but since didn’t make my pick timely it looks like
I’ll be riding with the last point race 30th place finisher... Kyle Busch?!?!? What the...?
Doggone these rules. 600 miles of
Kyle Busch is almost cruel and unusual punishment. At least my son will be happy.
So
there you have it!

Good luck and hoping for a safe, good race!
