Fantasy Picks 2019 ~ Chicago
Recap
and Results
Toyota/Save Mart 350
Sonoma
The
Sonoma Race was much anticipated... with the addition of the Carousel to the
course and the Tapered Spacer/Aero setup that was supposed to create better
racing. Unfortunately, I’m not sure it
got the desired result... unless you were driving a Toyota as the Joe Gibbs
Racing, et al saw Martin Truex Jr. win the race, four of the top five positions,
five of the top ten positions. Six of
our Fantasy Racers finished in the top ten, with Kelly Meiste and Frank Buhrman
taking the win with their Martin Truex Jr. pick.
The
winning pick allowed Kelly to add to his points lead and Frank to pick up
another position as he continues his climb up the points standings as shown in
the Race Results and Points Standings for this week’s event.

Week’s Picks
Camping World 400
Chicagoland
From
road course to cookie cutter the Traveling Circus makes its way to the 1.5-miler
at Chicagoland (sounds a little like Disney World doesn’t it?). This year NASCAR is choking the cars down
with the 550HP Tapered Spacer and parachuting them with the AeroDucts in hopes
of improving competition. This will be
the same package used at Michigan and we’ll see it for the next few at Daytona
and Kentucky.
As
with every race this year this adds a new wrinkle into the Fantasy picking mix,
but at this track it may not matter as the past winners here are also the only
drivers we have seen visit Victory Lane at other tracks as five of the 2019
Super Six are winners here including defending race winner Kyle Busch (2). Other winners include Kevin Harvick (2),
Martin Truex Jr. (2) and Brad Keselowski (2).
Since they seem to have this all new setup stuff figured out, is there a
chance they will find Chicagoland success again?
The
non-Super Six winner to win here is Ryan Newman. The only Super Six to not win here is Joey
Logano. Will they find Victory Lane this
week?
Other
drivers who have been strong here include Jimmie Johnson (who hopes to end a 75
race winless streak), Clint Bowyer, Kurt Busch and Paul Menard. Kyle Larson just missed Victory Lane last
year... so we know he knows how to get around here.
Lots
of choices. Let’s see what our Fantasy
regulars think will bring home the Checkers this week.

Did
I ever share how much I don't like this track? Not even sure why, except I was
here long before any "cookie-cutters!" I've looked and studied
and I wasted my time doing all that. In the end, I have to get on the Gibbs'
Band Wagon and ride with#19, Martin Truex Jr. at Chicago
Frank
Buhrman
No
time for research or even much thinking about picks this week - how did life
get this busy? Since nothing else I've tried lately has worked as well as
picking Martin Truex at Sonoma, let's let the money ride on that winner again -
the chips say #19 will make it two in a row.

I
was just told that if I wanted to win one of our fantasy games, I needed to
pick a Toyota from JGR Racing. That being the case, it gives me 4 drivers to
pick from. KyBu, Hamlin, Truex and Jones. Ai,yi,yi - how do I do that? Put
their numbers on my dart board and throw darts? The closest one I come to will
be the one I pick. My results were: #18 Kyle Busch...so that is my pick. I love
throwing darts. That was one of my favorite games at fairs!

A
little early this week but we are going away on a small trip this week so best
get the pick in sooner than too late! So
I'm going to make this easy for me this week and pick #18 Kyle Busch to
win in Chicago!!

It's
his kind of town
Sooner or later, Harvick
He won't let me down

Ah
Chicagoland my home track, only a two-hour drive down I-80. Unlike many
here I've been very lucky so far this Fantasy season. So now we're at my
home track so what could go wrong? Well I have a hunch that my time is up
and my pick this week will be doomed. So if that's the case there's no
one I'd love to see have the kiss of death this week more than the 18 of Kyle
B. So there you have it, everyone stay clear of the 18 this week his luck
is about to run out.

Guess
I'll ride with the hot hand. Martin Truex for the win.

I'm
going to stay with the 42. Kyle sure recovered better than I was thinking
he would.

I’m
going with Brad K in the #2... Again. I
don’t have a song to explain it’s just his time to take the win.
So
there you have it! Agree? Disagree?
Pick your winner and post it in the comments below.
Good luck and hoping for a safe, good race!
