Fantasy Picks 2019 ~ Charlotte Roval
Recap
and Results
Federated Auto Parts 400
Richmond
The
28th Race of the season saw the Traveling Circus back in Richmond, the site of Martin
Truex Jr.’s first win of the season.
When the black and white Checkered Flag (as opposed to green and white
Stage Checkers) fell, the 2017 Cup Champion had captured his sixth win for the
season, pulled off the Richmond Sweep along with back to back Playoff
wins.
Impressive! Shame no one picked him.
In
the Fantasy Race, Vicq Ruiz and Vivian Simons had the top pick for the week
with MTJ teammate, Kyle Busch who came across the line second. Congratulations!
Normally
you would think that a 12th place finish would be an OK Fantasy Points day,
which is where Points leader Kelly Meiste’s pick
finished. Unfortunately, the competition
was all over it this week with everyone else finishing 7th or better. Pretty stiff competition when you have a 12th
place finisher and end up last in weekly points.
Kelly’s
“misfortune” allowed PattyKay Lilley to ease a little closer to the front. Those two need to check their rear view as
this week’s race winner Vicq Ruiz is sneaking into the mix.
The
points standings remain the same with Kelly atop the leaderboard, but points
races are tightening up throughout the field.

Week’s Picks
Bank of America ROVAL 400
Charlotte
The
Traveling Circus is back on the ROVAL this weekend. Since this is only the second race on this
configuration and they are running and entirely different setup from last year
there is not much insight to provide this week.
It’s wide open!
The
setup is the same one used last week-750HP/No Aeroducts. Martin Truex Jr. did quite well with that,
winning at Richmond. Plus, he had the
race here last year won until Jimmie Johnson’s failed banzai move took both he
and MTJ out of the win.
Ryan
Blaney won here last year. MTJ has shown
he was stout and is the winningest road course driver out of this year’s bunch
of Chasers. Clint Bowyer, Alex Bowman,
Kurt Busch and Chase Elliott finished 3rd through 6th here last year. They are all Chasers this year, so odds have
to be good on them.
Joey
Logano and Kevin Harvick have recent road course wins. Kyle Busch is solid. Plenty to choose from this week. Let’s see who our Fantasy Racers think will
conquer Charlotte’s ROVAL
PattyKay
Lilley
OK
gang, Mama's going in a different direction this week. There's only been one
race on this Roval thing but the closest to it would be Sonoma. The Glen is
just too sprawling and fast. So, who's good to great on the roads and would
have won this one last year but for the interference from the #48? Have to ride
with #19, Martin Truex Jr. at the Roval. He's hot and this would be a
"threepeat!"
Frank
Buhrman
Everything
in the world points to Truex for this weekend. Jeez, this guy is red-hot. So
are you going to pick him, Frank? Heck no; how do you think I got to be this
low in the standings. Actually, Chase Elliott has become a good road racer, and
he's usually pretty good at staying out of trouble, so I'll see if he can
survive the Buhrman jinx and conquer the Roval.
Vivian
Simons
It
would be nice to see someone different in Victory Lane, and since the Charlotte
Motor Speedway Road Course, aka Charlotte Roval, is only having its 2nd race
there, we just might. Or we may not...I think I will pick #22, Joey Logano to win
this one.

Now
the Roval and I feel it's going to be a bit different this year with a few
changes to the lay out of the track and this year’s cars. Let’s hope we get even better racing than
last year but like the wise man always says “We Shall See!!“
My
first thought about a winner here was Kurre (Swedish
nick for Kurt) in the #1 but that didn't end up well for Kurt and me last time
I had him picked, dead last!! And on the
other hand his pesky bro Kyle already locked in and can go all out to win
without any pressure and I'm sure JGR don't mind winning the first three in the
"Playoff"
But
I over the years I've found out that in cases like this it's best to go with
your first feeling so #1 Kurt Busch it is!!
Vicq
Ruiz
My
decoder ring
says "Drink your Roval-tine....
and take the 9 car"!
Kelly
Meiste
Truex
is a pretty good road racer but I find it hard to believe he will string 3 wins
in a row. So I'm going with someone I haven't picked yet this year a kid
that's turning into a pretty good road racer himself. Please mark me down
for the #9 of Chase Elliott this week.
Hal
Ashburn
Put
me down for Denny Hamlin, #11.
Will
Dossett
Staying
with Yung Money, 42.
J.
L. Steele
Here's
a name that's not picked much anymore. He came so close last year; I think
he'll go after it even harder this year.
Jimmie Johnson.
David
Nance
Lost
my mind last week with Ryan Newman and really haven’t found it yet, so we’ll
stick with the #6 this week.
So
there you have it! Agree? Disagree?
Pick your winner and post it in the comments below.
Good luck and hoping for a safe, good race!
