Fantasy Picks ~ Talladega
Week’s Recap and Results
Toyota Owners 400
Richmond! Wow! This group was all over it this week with 7 in the Top 7. No one went with Kyle Busch for his third win but Mitch and J. L. had Chase Elliott in 2nd, Frank with Denny Hamlin were 3rd, PattyKay and Vicq with Joey Logano in 4th. Points Leader, Berra took Kevin Harvick to round out the Top 5, with Vivian and Kyle Larson coming across 7th.
Although there was no shuffling in the standings the races are tightening up... just in time for Talladega to really shake things up.
The Richmond results are as follows-
Now we head to that Big Tri-Oval at Eastaboga, AL for some restrictor plate racing. Some fans like that style of “competition.” Others find it difficult to watch knowing the inevitable “Big One” will lay waste to lots of good cars. The only thing more difficult than watching is picking a winner for this race.
Past active winners include Brad Keselowski, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Jamie McMurray, David Ragan (David Ragan?!), Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch. Jimmie Johnson has a win here but it’s been a while-William Byron was a fourth grader when that happened last. Will this week’s winner add to his totals or will we see a fresh face avoid the carnage, cheat the wind and find himself in Victory Lane?
Talladega has been a bit of a Ford track of late. Will Ford get back in the winner’s circle or will Kyle Busch make it four in a row in his M&M’s Toyota to break The Blue Oval’s streak of five ‘Dega wins in a row?
Most say you can shelve traditional prediction methods this week as all good fortunes can turn in a millisecond here. Let’s see if our prognosticators worked overtime to get the right picks or turned to alternate methods for this Geico 500.
This big ol’ ugly track is such a crap-shoot… but it’s on the schedule, so we have to make picks and cross our fingers. After looking over all the usual suspects, I’m sticking with Penske, but switching cars. My crystal ball says it will be Ford in Victory Lane. Hope I’m riding with the right one. #2!!! Brad Keselowski!
Is this the year? Will "the Big One" take out everybody who realistically should win and leave a torrid battle between the 51, 72, 15, 23 and 00 to decide it? Should I bet the ranch on Gray Gaulding? Well, maybe next year. In the meantime, wave a magic wand over the six cars you think most likely to win and see which ones turn into junkyard crumples and which look like they're doing burnouts. So the Great Buhrmini (with lovely assistant Linda Vaughn) pulls a number out of a hat, and it's 22. Sounds good, since the Penske cars have come as close as anybody to dominating here, and Joey got a bad break at Richmond. Mr. Logano, show 'em how it's done.
My, oh my, oh my!!! This one is always a doozie when it comes to picking someone for the win. I have always thought it would be a crap shoot and this race will be no different. The tendency is to always pick one of the big team drivers. I will go with a multi-team racer and that will #4, Happy Harvick.

Following in the footsteps of his dad, I am going out on a limb here and picking the #9 of Chase Elliott.
I'm sorry but I really don't know what to say about the ‘Dega race! Sooo I'll get right to the pick this time, #2 Brad. K. it is this week and hope to see a race and not crash-fest!!
Might as well throw all the names into a hat and put on a blindfold, but I guess I'll go by the numbers this time, and the numbers are pretty solid for Brad K in the Deuce.
My pick, every week, will be Bubba Wallace. My reasoning is my hope is that Richard Petty will have a successful year with his team and I'm supporting that hope every way I can.
I probably should stick with Ford this week but Toyota is calling me. I believe it will be Denny Hamlin, first to the line this week provided he can keep his speed up on the track, speed down on pit road, air wrenches spinning, lug nuts tight ... and if Coach lets them race and not ride.
