Fantasy Picks ~ Michigan
Race Recap and Results
None of our experts had race winner, Martin Truex, Jr., but they were right on with 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th as J. L. led the pack with his Kyle Larson pick, followed by Berra, Vivian, Frank and PattyKay. J. L. used his 35 point performance to jump up two spots as he begins his march toward the front.
Points continue to tighten as Berra is now one point behind points leader PattyKay with the rest of the field poised to move if anyone misses their marks this week at Michigan.
Here is the breakdown of the Pocono 400 results-

This week finds the Traveling Circus in the Irish Hills and it should be an interesting time on the Michigan two miler.
So who is it going to be this week? When you consider that 22 of the last 30 races have been won by three drivers-Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex, Jr. odds are in their favor to continue that domination this week. BUT these three haven’t racked up many wins here-Kyle has won here-he’s won everywhere, but it’s been a while. Kevin has a win here... in a Chevy. Martin has had strong runs but no win here. Interesting.
Looking back at past performance Kyle Larson has to be the favorite with three wins in a row there, BUT those were wins in Chevys that could win. This 2018 Chevy keeps knocking on the door but so far Victory Lane for Chevy has been as elusive as a Kyle Busch compliment of Brad Keselowski’s driving style.
Kurt Busch has three wins here-one in a Chevy, one in a Dodge, BUT his last win here in a Ford, we were in the third season of DW and Boogity, Boogity, Boogity. Ryan Newman has a couple of wins here as does Denny Hamlin BUT not in this decade. Jimmie Johnson has a win here BUT that was four years ago. Not sure his winless streak will end here.
When you look at the history since Greg Biffle (remember him?) got back-to-back wins there are only six active drivers with wins here.
Brad Keselowski has looked strong BUT he has never found Victory Lane here. Paul Menard has had good runs here BUT this is his first time in a Ford. Can Aric or Daniel break out this weekend?
Chase Elliott has been stout BUT that was with a racy Chevy. Can he finally get past that last car here with his rear window in compliance?
Lots of choices, lots of BUTs. Let’s see what our Fantasy prognosticators think will happen this weekend at Michigan...
I tried every way I could think of to talk myself out of this one, but the stats are just so overwhelmingly one-sided! In the past 4 Michigan races, Kyle Larson has a finishing average of 1.5! He's won the last THREE! Sure, he might meet with the SAFER, but he doesn't do that much anymore. At least I'm pretty sure that everyone else can read, so there'll be company with this pick. Has to be #42! First Chevy win this year!
This season is getting to be less and less fun. Do you say it's a "normal" week and pick Harvick, Kyle Busch or Truex? Do you say it's an "almost normal" week and pick Larson (three straight Michigan wins), Brad K. or Logano, do you say it's a "weird" week and say Kurt Busch, Elliott or Blaney, or do you pick the three-legged horse - anybody else? What's the fun in that? OK, here's my fun: the first Cup race at Michigan - no, it was actually just "Grand National" then - was in 1969. If I look at the car numbers of my nine "normal week," "almost normal week" and "weird week" drivers, the one nearest the top in that race was John Sears, who finished ninth in car #4. Harvick it is.
Seems like Kyle Larson has the Michigan track down pat for getting to Victory Lane first. But it also seems he drives over his head at times and I just can't visualize him winning four in a row. Then there is Kyle Busch who seems to have an advantage this year. Don't know what JGR and Toyota have in that specific car but Kyle seems to be the best driver of the brand and owner. Just can't see him winning this one either. Sometimes my wish outweighs logic so I am just going to toss a coin and go with either Logano or Harvick...well, looks like Harvick is the one who is gonna take his #4 to V.L. this weekend.

Kyle Larson has had great success at Michigan. He showed last week at Pocono he can compete with this year's big dogs, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex, Jr. as well as anyone has. Add those two factors together and I'm going with Larson for the win this Sunday.
I can feel it in my bones! We are going to hear the siren howl in Dawsonville this weekend. Chase Elliott brings home his first cup win! (Besides I will be in Dawsonville on Saturday for the Hall of Fame Board of Directors meeting...)
So as we’ve all seen, we now have 4 major contenders for the top 5 week to week so what to expect at MIS this week? Are we going to see a surprise winner or just more of the same old same old? I know many of you guys have been waiting for Chase Elliott to win his first race but I just can't see it happening this week. HMS is not there just yet! To me it looks like a battle between Truex Jr and Larson, so therefor I'll have to go with #18 Kyle Busch this week again!
Stayin' outside the big 3 (4? 5?) again this week. Let's say that Chase E. gets off the schneid this Sunday and the siren howls in Dawsonville.
My pick, every week, will be Bubba Wallace. My reasoning is my hope is that Richard Petty will have a successful year with his team and I'm supporting that hope every way I can.
I’ll take the other side of Vivian’s coin toss and go with Joey Logano.
