Fantasy Picks ~ Kansas
Week’s Recap and Results
AAA 400 Drive for Autism
Dover shuffled the standings last week. Mitch once again picked the race winner with Kevin Harvick. Berra saw Kyle Busch’s misfortunes coupled with strong finishes by Martin Truex Jr. (Frank) and Brad (Vivian) saw the points race shuffle and tighten.
When it was all said and done, David moved to the top of the leaderboard, while Vivian leapfrogged from fourth over PattyKay to be tied for second with Berra. Frank’s strong finish tightened the top five who are now separated by a mere 18 points.
Mitch’s 40 points for the win, pulled the second pack to within 27 points of the first pack with him, Vicq and J. L. now separated by only 21 points.
Eleven races into the season, good tight racing and not a stage point in sight!
Here is the breakdown of the Dover results-
KC Masterpiece 400
Off the concrete and onto the asphalt, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series this week heads to the mile and a half-er at Kansas for a Saturday night shootout. This has the makings for an interesting one on the evening before Mother’s Day.
Martin Truex Jr. dominated here last season, winning both races. Can he make it three in a row? Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch have won races this season in the “cookie-cutters” and have won here previously. Will their earlier success propel them to Victory Lane? Other drivers who know their way to Victory Lane at KC include Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski. Is it time for their return? Jimmie Johnson has the most wins here with three... is this the week to make it four and put Chevy back in the Winner’s Circle for the first time since Daytona?
This race marks the return of Matt Kenseth to Cup. Matt has two wins here, one in a Toyota and one in a Ford. Can he pilot his Roush Fenway Racing Ford to the front for a Cinderella story win?
I always wonder if we will see a fresh face in Victory Lane. Lots of cars starting to show some stuff but haven’t been able to close. Will this be the week to add a new name to the Cup win list?
Let’s see what our Fantasy prognosticators think will happen this weekend in Kansas.
I won’t lie. Kansas Speedway is not on my list of favorite tracks. With that in mind, no more young guns for a while. It’s becoming all too clear who has the loaded guns and it’s not the kids. MTJ won both races here last year, but I’m going back to the guy that brought me to the dance, #4 – Freaky fast Kevin Harvick.
At least for me, this one's easy: Kyle or Kevin? Both are awesome here, and while this could be the track for Elliot's breakthrough or for Truex, I think the 4 & 18 have seemingly always been fast at Kansas. So which do I pick? Well, I see it this way: Busch had a freak problem at Dover, and he dominated Kansas last fall but ended up barely in the Top 10, so he's the one most due to win again. I'm riding with M&Ms (or whatever candy is paying the freight) and Kyle at Kansas.
For the KC Masterpiece 400, I am picking Joey Logano for the win. It was a tough one to choose only one driver. In fact, I would love to have taken Matt Kenseth, but I think he will need more practice before he sees VL this season.

Martin Truex, Jr. is the first driver I thought of when looking at the Kansas race and he certainly should be a contender. Then Kevin Harvick picked up another win at Dover. He got on a roll earlier in the season and with the way the Stewart-Haas Fords have performed this year, he's my favorite to win again this Saturday night.
I think he has gotten tired of running good. He is due. I am going with Clint Bowyer.
Not going to say anything about last week-end!!! However, I think it gave us a few indications.
. First the Chevy teams are not on top of the aero thing yet and getting somewhat desperate going over the top with their cars! Second, SHR is really on it right now. Hope it lasts all the way to Homestead! So on to Kansas. Great to see Kenseth back in a car again after a few starts we maybe will see how far behind the RFR cars really are!
A couple of things to think about for the weekend! Will Harvick go back to back again? Will Truex Jr go three in a row on Kansas? And what about the JGR – gang? Is Suarez going to break through? Gut feeling says #78 Martin Truex Jr there's my pick for the week!!
If ya can't beat em, join em. I put a goofy grin on my face and sell out to the #4 this week.
My pick, every week, will be Bubba Wallace. My reasoning is my hope is that Richard Petty will have a successful year with his team and I'm supporting that hope every way I can.
It’s about time for one from the Youth Movement to score a win. I’ll take Ryan Blaney for the win this week.
