Dover 1 & 2 Wrap and Daytona 2 Picks
Dover Doubleheader 1 & 2
Wrap-up and Results
The Traveling Circus headed north to Dover for the final Pandemic Adjustment (so far) of the Regular Season - the Drydene 311’s V 1 & 2. 622 miles of racing run over two days. Each race a little under a hundred miles of what we had scheduled before the outbreak, together just a little over 100 more than they used to run in a single race “back in the day.”
This year’s Big Two-Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick took the wins, each dominating their respective races. Hamlin led 37% of his race while Happy led a whopping 71% of the second race. On the Fantasy side of things, it was PattyKay Lilley who dominated the weekend collecting 75 of a possible 80 points. Lilley, along with Frank Buhrman, Vicq Ruiz and J. L. Steele all had second place finisher Truex, Jr in the first race. Congratulations all for that winning pick in a race that saw nine Racers pick Top Five finishers. It was some kind of race as they had the field covered. Below are the Race Results and Points Standings after Saturday’s race.

Which gave us the following Points Standings.
Because of the extremely close finish there were no position changes in the Points Standings.
The second race saw PattyKay switch to Harvick which resulted in a 40-point win. Vivian Simons, Berra Nordin and Vicq Ruiz went with MTJ who finished second, while J. L. Steele took seven-time Champ Jimmie Johnson for third. Here is the final order in the second race.

PattyKay increased her points lead with her 75-point weekend. There was a major shakeup in the points after this race due to Chase Elliott’s misfortunes. Suffice it to say that there were a couple of racers who wished the weekend were a single race instead of a Doubleheader.
On to Daytona. The Series is back on schedule and hopefully will continue with weekly events until we reach the finale at Phoenix.
Coke Zero 400 Daytona
Picks and Prognostications
Well, it’s time for a Saturday night race at Daytona... must be the Fourth of July. No wait, another schedule change. This one wasn’t Pandemic response driven. No, this move was made long before the little bug made it over from China.
Daytona, like any other track that formerly held restrictor plate races is always a shot in the dark. If a car starts the race and is running on the lead lap when the white flag falls it has a chance to win. Couple that with the Playoff criteria which allows any driver in the Top 30 in points to advance to the Playoffs and you have really amped things up. So, this race may be between those who need the win just to get in and the qualifiers who are trying to keep others out.
Who will it be? Looking at the Points Standing your guess is better than mine. Let’s see
who our Fantasy Racers believe will take the Checkers and punch their 2020 Playoff Ticket.
PattyKay... Take it away!
PattyKay Lilley
Well, at least there's only ONE race this weekend… but it's at Daytona… never a good thing in Fantasy Racing. Still, we have to pick someone, so Mama will be riding this week in the #6 with Ryan Newman. I think this old track owes him a bit after February!
Frank Buhrman
What do you do with this race? In the last five years, two drivers have won for whom this remains the only career win, and two others have only one other victory - at the even more frustrating Talladega. Could this be Quinn Houff's day? Kez is the fifth of those winners, so maybe I should go with him . . . or maybe Hamlin or Harvick, but I'm going to be contrary this week and pick Joey Logano. He can be trophy-or-trash here, so even though I feel about him the way Vivian feels about Hamlin, I'll take the #22.
Vivian Simons
Crap shoot races are always iffy, and Daytona is one of those. A lot of new winners and sometimes a lot of surprise winners tend to go to Victory Lane. I think it is time for one of our younger drivers to take the checkers so am going with that #12, Ryan Blaney.
Berra Nordin
The Daytona "crapshoot” is up this week! This time I'm going to go with the one I like to win this! and maybe not the one that is likely to do so, so I'm sorry SHR guys but I'd much more like for the #20, Eric Jones to win just because, you know!!!
Kelly Meiste
Kyle Busch. #18 on the track but #1 in our hearts.
Vicq Ruiz
Okay, off the Truex train this week. (Thanks for pulling me out of the cellar, Martin!) This week the magic 8 ball comes up with Jimmie J in the #48 car.
Hal Ashburn
This week I'm running back to Denny. #11
Will Dossett
Tyler Reddick, #8
J. L. Steele
Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. because it's Daytona and a time of desperation for a desperate driver
John Barnes
I've done poorly this year, so I guess I'll go with Hamlin. I surprised myself yesterday, found myself pulling for JJ at the end. Would like to see him end his career with at least another win. Maybe I'm getting sentimental in my old age.
