Daytona RC Wrap and Dover Picks
Go Bowling 235 Daytona Road Course
Wrap-up and Results
The Traveling Circus went back to Daytona for Round 2. This was not a high-bank shootout... that will come the weekend after Dover. No, this was the inaugural race on the Road Course. The monster stockers used the same track IMSA used before the Cup season started (with an additional chicane or two added to strategically whoa the big cars down) to put on the much-anticipated L-R show. So, armed with dry tires, wet tires and windshield wipers the Cup boys rolled into the World Center of Speed ready for everything... except lightening, which Ma Nature provides in ample amounts.
When the lightening had cleared the area, the esses straightened and advertised distance completed it was Dawsonville GA’s Chase Elliott taking the checkered flag. On the Fantasy front Hal Ashburn correctly picked the winning #9 for another 40-point win. John Barnes followed with his #11 pick holding off a four pack of Martin Truex Jr. pickers. All in all, seven Fantasy Racers had top four picks. Pretty doggone good considering no history, no practice, no qualifying. Here is the Daytona finishing order.

Congratulations Hal on your winning pick!
For the most part the points standings remained the same with PattyKay Lilley still in front. She took a slide or two off course this weekend allowing Frank Buhrman to close the gap a might. But with clean air, catching her is one thing and passing will be something else. We’ll just have to see how it all plays out!

Speaking of more racing, how about two from Dover this weekend to see if Miles can shake things up a bit.
Dover Drydene 311 Double Header
Picks and Prognostications
The Traveling. Circus heads to Delaware, for the season’s final Double Header from Dover. The Monster Mile should provide a real test as they run the Drydene 311 V1 and V2 on back to back days. Double headers are a challenge for the Fantasy Racers as much as it is for the Cuppers. Which strategy to use-double or nothing-go with the same pick in both races, or single picks in hopes of getting the right pick matched for the correct race. It’s tough!
Martin Truex Jr. got his third win here in the spring Dover race last year. Kyle Larson won the Fall race but is not on the grid this season, but his replacement Matt Kenseth has won two races here. Maybe that will be the winning combo this weekend. Last week’s winner, Chase Elliott won here in 2018, along with Kevin Harvick. Can Chase make it back to back wins or will Happy get his seventh of the season?
Other winners include Kyle Busch (3). Can he break into the win column? It would be so Kyle-like to win both. Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch, and Ryan Newman (3) have all triumphed on the Concrete High Banks. Jimmie Johnson is the Monster Mile Master with 11 wins. This would be a great weekend to stamp his ticket to the Playoffs while ending his horrendous winless streak. Fingers crossed. Throw in a few drivers who need to win to make the playoffs and you have a pretty good group of candidates to choose from.
And after you get that first pick, you get to do it again.
Let’s see what our Field of Fantasy Racers think about Dover’s first double header. PattyKay... Go!

And here we go again... Too many choices at Dover because no one really "owns" this track. I'd love to select Kyle Larson, but despite the fact that he's listed under "active drivers only", he's NOT active in NASCAR. Best driver of record is MTJ, but only by a whisker. Guess I'll ride with #19 Truex on Saturday and then with #4 Harvick on Sunday. Are we ALMOST done with double-headers???
Frank Buhrman
I'd really like to see Jimmie Johnson win during his last Dover weekend, but I won't bet on it. Let's do the Coach double instead: Truex for #1 and Hamlin for #2.
Vivian Simons
Saturday, although Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch have done good at Dover, I think both of them are having an off year and I don't look for either to improve. Therefore, I am going with Kevin Harvick in the #4 to win the first of the double header.
Sunday, I am going to be riding with the #19, Martin Truex, Jr to take the checkers first.
Berra Nordin
Dover doubleheader this week and two five-hundreds (km that is). I'm going to make it easy on myself and pick two winners that won here before in recent years! Race 1 #9 Chase Elliott goes back to back! Race 2 #19 Martin Truex Jr wins another on at one of his home tracks!
Kelly Meiste
Kyle Busch-Double or nothing. Put me down for the #18 for both days.
Vicq Ruiz
I'm going with Truex again. That would be Martin Truex, Junior. In the number nineteen car. Again.
And make it a double......:-)
Hal Ashburn
Enjoyed my ride with Chase this week. Guess I'll just stick around for a double win at Dover. #9
Will Dossett
Tyler Reddick, #8, in both.
J. L. Steele
Let's take Martin Truex, Jr. in race one and Jimmie Johnson in race two.
John Barnes
I want to go with the hot hand of Elliott but feel like Harvick is just always right there. I'll split the baby in half and throw it out with the bathwater and go with:
Harvick: Saturday
Elliott: Sunday
David Nance
Race One-Ryan Blaney. Race Two-Kurt Busch
