Picks and Prognostications
Time for some short track racing and the ¾-miler at Richmond fits the bill. This race used to be the final race of the regular season but has been moved into the first round of the Playoffs. It will be interesting to see how the schedule change, no practice/no qualifying format affects the racing.
2019 Cup Champion Kyle Busch is coming into Richmond in need of a win. He is barely above the cutoff line and has no wins this season. He has six wins here, the most of active drivers, so this may be his best chance to punch his ticket into the Round of Twelve. Teammate Martin Truex Jr. won both 2019 races with Kyle winning both in 2018. Other winners in the Playoffs include, Kurt Busch (2), Kevin Harvick (3), Clint Bowyer (2), Denny Hamlin (3), Joey Logano (2), Brad Keselowski. Other winners include Jimmie Johnson (3), Matt Kenseth (2), Ryan Newman (2). Aric Almirola, Chase Elliott, and Austin Dillon are Chasers who are strong contenders here.
So, who's it going to be Saturday night? Let’s see who our Fantasy Racers think will find Victory Lane.
PattyKay Lilley
Well, this week we're back to a short track and Mama is backing off of Kevin for this one. It's time that Busch kid won a race and this one is as good as any. I'll be riding this week with Kyle Busch in the #18!
Frank Buhrman
No research this week. Even after 50 years of living elsewhere, I'm still a Richmond boy, and Richmond Raceway is still Denny Hamlin's home track, so geographic brand loyalty says I'm going with #11.
Vivian Simons
Seems like Toyota has won most of the past few races at Richmond, so I think I will stick with those cars. Perhaps we will see the #19 of Martin Truex, Jr in victory lane again this Saturday.
Berra Nordin
Short track this week at Richmond and I'm going to go with #11 Denny Hamlin this week. I know Truex Jr won both races last year but I getting tired of hearing him say "I thought I had enough of a run that he was going to let me by" when he messes things up so Hamlin is my pick!
Kelly Meiste
I’ve rode the 18 train this far... not gonna get off now. Kyle Busch.
Vicq Ruiz
This week I consulted the I Ching and it came up 22, "Adorning", so obviously the choice is Joey.
Hal Ashburn
Looking for the 18 and 22 to be strong here. But I always get burned when I get away from Denny so I guess I'm still on the #11.
Will Dossett
Tyler Reddick, #8
J. L. Steele
Timmy Hill 66
John Barnes
I figure I'm killing two birds with one stone.
1. Jinxing the 18
2. Not getting on the KH bandwagon because it's so easy to do
Having said all that, it'll be the 4. But still choosing the 18 for the reverso-double-jinxaroo.
David Nance
#4... he needs a little love this week.
