David Nance is a 1957 model, born and raised in Owensboro KY. He grew up at the three local tracks - Ellis, Kentucky Motor and Owensboro Speedways and was already a seasoned fan when in 1963 he saw Darrell "Wild Child" Waltrip crash out of his very first race at Owensboro.
He attended his first Cup race in 1969 at the Nashville Fairgrounds, watching Richard Petty win ... driving a Ford! Later that year he cheered the Baby Grands as they raced at his favorite track - the now long defunct Ellis Speedway.
Over the years he has followed many drivers but his dream was to be the front-tire changer for his all-time favorite driver, David Pearson.
He, his wife and son currently reside in Frankfort KY, but he still claims Owensboro as home. He is honored to be a small part of this distinguished writing team and hopes that something from his nearly six-decade "fan career" will encourage others to be race fans forever.
